Culture Association in Albuquerque, New Mexico
The area chair for Horror of the Southwest/Texas Popular Culture and

any aspect of horror in literature, film, television, or general culture for
the regional meeting of the Southwest/Texas PCA/ACA to be held at the
Sheraton Old Town Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, between March 7 and 10,
2001.
Especially encouraged are submissions regarding the horror field covering
roughly the last year: for example, novels like Mark Danielewski's House of
Leaves or Peter Straub's Mr. X; films like Stir of Echoes or The Cell:
events like Alfred Hitchcock's 100th birthday or Stephen King's experiments
in web publishing; new writers like Owl Goingback or Tananarive Due, etc.
Also encouraged are submissions that go beyond the traditional definitions
of horror: for example, the use of graphic and grotesque violence in the
writing of Michel Foucault; horror tropes in photographs by Diane Arbus or
Joel-Peter Witkin, or in films by Guy Maddin or the Brothers Quay; etc.
