    CALL FOR PAPERS
    Safundi: The Journal of South African and American Comparative Studies

    DUE DATE: November 15, 2000

    SUGGESTED TOPICS: Any topic dealing with South African and American
    comparative studies: politics, sociology, biology (AIDS), law, economics,
    art, music, letters, history, etc.

    PUBLICATION INFO: Safundi is a peer-reviewed, quarterly, academic journal
    devoted to the comparative study of South Africa and America. Samples of
    previously published papers on Safundi include:
    - "Cape Town and New Orleans: Some Comparisons"
    - "Serpent's Teeth in the Kitchen of Meaning: A Theory of South African
    Culinary Historiography"
    - "The challenge of university training in the new South Africa: an
    outsider's perspective"
    - "Children and Youth in a Violent Context"

    SUBMISSION INFO: Papers can be submitted by e-mail attachment (Word format)

    Safundi, The Journal of South African and American Comparative Studies,
    encourages any scholar or professional to submit a paper for publication on
    the website, www.safundi.com. Papers are being collected for publication on
    January 1, 2001. NOTE: The deadline for submission is November 15, 2000.

    Papers of a comparative nature are especially welcomed, though all papers
    that illuminate the American or South African condition will be considered.
    The website, with the juxtaposition of disparate papers, aims to compare and
    contrast the American and South African experiences.

    You must be a member to submit a paper; membership is free and open to the
    public. If you are not a member, you may enroll at www.safundi.com/members.

    Safundi presently has more than 180 members from 15 countries with varied
    specialties. Eight editorial board members and eight associate editors
    review material for publication.
