CALL FOR PAPERS
The Third Annual Elizabeth Madox Roberts Conference
April 20-22, 2001
Saint Catherine College, Saint Catherine, KY,
& Penn's Store, Gravel Switch, KY
Papers are invited on any topic related to the work of novelist, short story
writer, and poet Elizabeth Madox Roberts. Since 2001 marks the 75th
anniversary of the publication of Roberts's great novel, The Time of Man,
whihc has recently been reissued, papers on this book are especially welcome.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
--Roberts in the context of Southern literature
--Roberts and other writers (i.e. Roberts and Faulkner, Roberts and Yeats)
--Roberts and Southern Agrarianism
--Roberts's literary and stylistic influences (i.e. Synge, Hardy, Joyce,
Homer, Beethoven)
--Roberts and Modernism
--Roberts and the novel
--Roberts and regionalism
--Roberts and the politics of literary reputation
--Roberts and feminism
--Roberts and Kentucky
Papers should be between fifteen and twenty minutes long. One page abstracts
are due by January 20, 2001, and should be sent via regular mail or e-mail to:
