    CALL FOR PAPERS

    The Fifth Annual Writers Conference in Honor of Elmer Kelton

    KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Reginald McKnight, author of numerous collections of
    short stories and novels, including _The Kind of Light that Shines on
    Texas_ and _White Boys_.

    Conference Dates: February 22-24

    Submission deadline: December 1, 2000

    We encourage, but do not require, submissions that discuss or include
    discussions of the culturally diverse Southwest. Submissions may include
            --Scholarly essays discussing individual authors or ideas of the Southwest;

            --Creative fiction (short stories, poetry) or creative non-fiction essays
    set in the Southwest or fiction and poetry that has cultural diversity as a
    central element of the plot;

            --Short video (ASU assumes no responsibility for damaged tapes.
