What is C&W Online?
C&W Online is an online companion conference for C&W 2001 (which meets in
May 2001 at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, USA). The online
conference allows the C&W community to extend the mission and scope of the
onsite conference in several ways -- by including those who can't travel to
the onsite conference; by providing a venue for events which are difficult
to include in the onsite conference, and by giving onsite conference
attendees a chance to meet online before the conference and participate in
activities valuable to those in C&W.
What kind of work is presented at C&W Online?
We encourage any submission which addresses the field of computers and
writing, whether your focus is rhetoric or composition, media studies,
theory, interdisciplinary work, or something else altogether. Historically
C&W has been a very diverse conference and we hope to represent that wide
range of interests.
How are C&W and C&W Online different?
The onsite and online conferences are coordinated by two separate teams who
work together to make sure the events of both conferences are
complimentary. Though the conferences share some events and personnel, they
are distinct -- if you recently submitted a proposal for C&W, you're not
automatically considered for C&W Online. We encourage you to submit a
proposal for the Online conference whether or not you plan to attend the
onsite C&W 2001.
What is an online presentation like?
Most presenters put a text or texts on the Web, then host a discussion of
their text(s) in our conference MOO Connections. Some presenters use our
conference email list to discuss their ideas with the C&W community. We
also facilitate demonstrations of online environments or teaching spaces.
Our presentation format is flexible, and we encourage those submitting
proposals to innovate!
What are the guidelines for proposal submission?
Proposal submission opens 8 November 2000 and continues through 31 January
2001. Individual or group presentations are permitted. Proposals are
reviewed by the the C&W Online committee, including the onsite conference
strand coordinators participating in the online conference. There is no
restriction on the number of proposals one can submit or have accepted.
