    ECOCRITICISM AND THE PRACTICE OF READING

    Deadline for submission of 500 word proposals and a brief cv: 10 January, 2001

    Proposals should be addressed to the provisional topic, "Ecocriticism and
    The Practice of Reading."

    What is the relationship between ecocriticism and reading? I am interested
    in presentations that demonstrate the nature of ecocriticism as an
    interpretive practice, especially through readings of particular authors in
    the American tradition. I welcome proposals that use a particular reading of
    a text (or texts) to reflect on ecocriticism as a distinctive site for the
    practice of reading.
