    CALL FOR PAPERS

    Tradition and Innovation in Theatre Design: Concepts, Trends, and Technologies
                    International Conference on Scenography
                            June 7-11, 2001
                                Krakow, Poland

    The Conference will be held at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, under
    the auspices of the Scenography Working of the International Federation for
    Theatre Research (FIRT/IFTR) and the Department of Theatre Studies of the
    Jagiellonian University.

    The Conference will explore the role of concepts, trends, and technologies
    in preserving traditions and in prompting innovation in design for the
    theatre through the ages.

    Contributions--papers and panels--are invited from scholars in any relevant
    discipline, particularly theatre studies, cultural studies, history of art,
    and design. Areas of interest include: stage design, costume design,
    lighting design, sound design, theatre architecture, and masks.

    Program Coordinator: Irene Eynat-Confino (Convener, Scenography Working
    Group, FIRT)
    Local Site Coordinators: Malgorzata Sugiera and Anna Wierzchowska
    (Jagiellonian University)

    Papers should be 20 minutes long (including visual material). Please send
    a 200-250 word abstract and a 100 word curriculum vitae by December 20,
