    CALL FOR PAPERS: CHILDREN'S LITERATURE SOCIETY/ALA

    The American Literature Association has allocated two panels to the
    Children's Literature Society. Judith Girardi will be chairing one panel,
    called "Shifting Paradigms: Changes in Children's Literature," and June
    Cummins and Michelle Stewart, the Co-Directors of the Children's
    Literature Society, will be chairing the other, which will have an open
    topic. This Call for Papers is for the open topic panel.

    The American Literature Association will hold its annual conference in
    Cambridge, MA from May 24-May 27, 2001.

    This panel will have an open topic. Here is an opportunity to send in
    a proposal on any topic within American children's literature, from any
    angle.

    Proposals are due JANUARY 15, 2001. We prefer e-mail submissions. Please
    send proposals of about 500 words to BOTH:
