This call is for papers concerning any aspect of the study of humor as it
applies to American Jewish literature, for presentation at the annual
convention of the Rocky Mountain MLA.
Papers may address the work(s) of any American Jewish author or
combination of works/authors, so long as the principal focus is on the use
(or function, or nature, etc.) of humor in the work(s), or by the
author(s). Of particular interest are studies examining the relationship
between humor and social, cultural, and/or individual identity (but
submissions ought not be limited by/to this interest).
This year the RMMLA convention is will be held October 11-13, 2001, in
Vancouver B.C.
Abstracts/proposals of 1-3 pages are due by March 1, 2001. Please send
them, along with requests for A/V materials if applicable, and a brief
bio, to:
