The Theatre History Focus Group of the Association for Theatre in Higher
Education seeks submissions for a Debut Panel to be presented at the ATHE
conference in Chicago, August 2-5, 2001.

ELIGIBILITY: While we expect most submissions to come from graduate
students in theatre, the panel is open to anyone (including faculty,
undergraduates, etc.) who has neither published nor presented on a scholarly
topic at a national conference. All presenters must be ATHE members at the
    time of presentation.

CONTENT: There are no restrictions as to nationality, period, or
methodology. All that is required is that the paper must include at least
some emphasis on theatre history (as opposed to exclusively
theoretical/critical) concerns. Discussions of theatre history pedagogy are
not appropriate for this panel. Papers should be designed to conform to a
20-minute presentation time (approximately 10 pages).

SELECTION COMMITTEE, etc: The panel is chaired by Rick Jones of Emporia
State University. Papers will be selected by a committee consisting of
Felicia Londré (who will also be the respondent) of the University of
Missouri at Kansas City, Stephanie Sandberg of Calvin College, and Peter
Ukpokudo of the University of Kansas.

TO SUBMIT: Please send completed papers to Rick Jones at the address below.
Abstracts are not sufficient. Papers of considerably over 10 pages are
strongly discouraged: please do your cutting BEFORE submitting.

    DEADLINE: January 15, 2001.

IMPORTANT NOTE: By submitting a paper, you are agreeing to attend the
conference and present your paper should it be accepted. Please consider
logistical and economic concerns BEFORE submitting.
