I am in search of an essay that explores either *Cities of the Plain* or
McCarthy's border trilogy as a whole. The essay will be part of a
collection of McCarthy papers that will be published by the University of
    New Mexico Press.

Because UNM Press wants to move quickly on this project, the essay needs to
be near completion--if not already complete. I am particularly interested in
work that explores representations of gender or race in the trilogy, but I
will consider any new work that tackles *Cities* or the trilogy. Please do
not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Given the time
constraints, email is probably the best way to communicate with me.

    Kind Regards,

    James D. Lilley
