Call for Papers: Trade Paperback/Online Book
EXTENDED Deadline: April 1, 2001
Bordered Sexualities: Bodies on the Verge of a Nation
In Winter 2001, San Diego State University Press will publish a
collection of short articles with the title "Bordered Sexualities"--in
the interest of encouraging a post MLA surge of submissions, we are
extending our proposal deadline to April 1, 2001 (no joke!).
Our preference is for brief, tightly focused essays that specifically
address the aesthetic, cultural, and anthropological singularities of
sexual phenomena as they figure in the line dividing and defining the
United States of America and the Estados Unidos Mexicanos. These
borderlands are vibrant cultural zones of conflict and exchange--border
denizens live both "on the verge" and "IN the verge"--and our volume
hopes to examine the sexually charged aspects of this space. We are
looking for BOTH critical essays on works of literature, photography,
and film AND radical examples of literature, photography and film from
these borderlands.
NOTE: We are open to other media and genres as well (photomontage,
autobiography etc). In short, "Bordered Sexualities" hopes to both
EMBODY and ANALYZE erotic mestiza media.
Bordered Sexualities is scheduled to appear December 2001 and will be
published simultaneously as a standard trade paperback book and
electronically on the WWWeb at ElectricINK, the SDSU Press online book
gallery.
How to submit a proposal:

curriculum vita (1-4 pages) electronically as an attachment to:

properly processed.
