CFP: The Native American South: New Constellations
    (3/01/01; MLA 01)

This panel invites papers addressing intersections between Native
American studies and Southern studies. What is the role of Native
Americans in the Southern imagination, and conversely, the "South" in
the Native American imagination? What are the politics of
inclusion/exclusion of Indians from the literery histories and canons of
the South? Subjects to consider also include comparisons between
"Southern" and Native American writers. Pre- or post-removal issues and
    interdisciplinary papers welcome.

Send 500 word abstracts and a one page vita to Annette Trefzer, English
Department, University of Mississippi, University, MS 38677-1848.
