Call for papers for a panel on the ways in which Edgar Allan Poe constructs
"Americanness", to be held at the (Dis) Junctions in the Humanities
conference at U.C. Riverside April 5-7, 2001. Papers may address any aspect
of the unique (democratic? undemocratic?) subjectivity found in Poe's
writing, and the ways in which this subjectivity is or is not "American".
