    CFP: The Politics of Samuel Beckett's Translations (3/11/01; 12/27/01-12/30/01)

    Proposed Special Session
    Topic: The Politics of Samuel Beckett's Translations

    Discussion of Beckett's activities as translator have, heretofore, focused
    largely upon technical issues and upon variations between his texts as they
    appear in differing languages. This proposed special session to the 2001
    MLA Conference in New Orleans seeks submissions that choose, instead, to
    view Beckett's translations as political acts relating to (though not
    necessarily sympathetic to) his homeland of Ireland.

    500 word abstracts should be submitted by March 11, 2000 to:
