CFP: Medieval Literature, Violence, Gender, SUNY Cortland (7/1; 10/29-31)
"Medieval Literature: Revisiting Gender & Violence"
a session at the 11th Annual Central New York Conference on Language and
Literature Cortland College of the State University of New York Cortland,
New York, October 29-31, 2001
This proposal calls for interdisciplinary and other advances to the study
of medieval literature and language with a focus on violence and gender,
especially those studies that involve: the body; witchcraft; semiotics;
pain and pleasure; sex and spirituality; love; or, education. While
textual studies are not discouraged, theoretical and synthetic approaches
are preferred. Three or four 15-20 minute presentations will be selected.

About the Central New York Conference on Language and Literature:
The conference is held annually at Cortland College (sponsored by the
College's Department of English), which belongs to the State University of
New York system of universities, over the course of 2 to 3 days each Fall.
Cortland is a beautiful university town located near the Finger Lakes in
upstate New York, a short drive from Ithaca. Originally called the
Central New York MLA, the conference hosts over 200 presentations in
nearly 60 sessions. At the time of writing, last year's conference
