    >
    >The History of Education Quarterly (HEQ) is planning a special issue on the
    >history of Asian American education. Although there is a growing literature
    >on the education of Asian Americans, most of the studies have been in the
    >social sciences; historical studies have been few. To help remedy this
    >situation, the HEQ will devote an entire issue to historical essays on
    >Asian American education.
    >
    >The HEQ welcomes essays on any aspect of the diverse histories of Asian
    >American education, including but not limited to a focus on 1) a particular
    >Asian American ethnic group; 2) Asian Americans of mixed ethnicities; 3)
    >issues of class, gender, and/or inter-ethnic relations; 4) K-12 schooling,
    >higher education, or other educational institutions.
    >
    >The HEQ is a publication of the History of Education Society, an
    >international scholarly association that encourages research in the history
    >of education, promotes and improves the teaching of history of education,
    >encourages cooperation among specialists in history of education, and
    >promotes an appreciation of the value of an historical perspective in the
    >making of educational policy.
    >
    >The HEQ defines education in its broadest terms, that is, a cultural
    >experience encompassing a variety of institutions, actors, and informal and
    >formal settings.
    >
    >Essays should be 25-35 double-spaced pages, including endnotes. Guidelines
    >for submission are given on a back page of the HEQ and at its website:
    >http: //www.sru.edu/depts/scc/hes/hes.htm.
    >
    >Submitted essays will be peer-reviewed. Your cover letter should include
    >the title of your essay, your name, postal address, email address, phone #,
    >and fax #. Your essay should begin with the title of your essay and not
    >include your name.
    >
    >Please send 6 copies of your essay to
