Proposed Special Session for MLA 2001, New Orleans

On the Chronic: Pathography and the crisis of non-closure

Narratives of physical and mental illness, whether factual or fictive,
tend to center on the crisis, as do critical and theoretical responses
to such writing. This session, by contrast, will consider the formal and
experiential implications of the chronic -- the ongoing, the
intermittent, the latent, the low-grade. 1-2 page abstracts and brief
vitae by March 22 to Elizabeth Hollow ( ehollow@gc.cuny.edu
<mailto:ehollow@gc.cuny.edu> ) or CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth
    Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
