Proposed special session for MLA 2001, New Orleans

    "Narrative Sexualities"

I am looking for papers for a proposed session on "Narrative
Sexualities", exploring the conditions and forms of representation of
sexualities in narrative. Papers might discuss issues such as the
im/possibilities of representing desire, relationships between narrative
structure and sexuality, strategies of denaturalizing sexual/gender
identities and decentralizing narrative, specificities of feminist and
queer narratives of sexuality. Focus on contemporary literature and
film. Discussions of broader theoretical issues through analyses of
    individual works especially welcome.
E-mail 1-2 page abstract and 1-2 page vita by Mar 21 to Annette
    Schlichter (aschlich@uci.edu).
Participants must be members of the MLA by April 1.
