    Call for Papers -- Literary Criticism Discussion Circle
    SAMLA, the South Atlantic Modern Language Association
    2001 Convention, Nov 9-11, in Atlanta, Georgia

    Panel Title: "Writing/Righting History: Interventions, Revisions, and
    Alternative Visions"

    Critical/theoretical discussions on the intersection of literature and
    history. How has literature "righted" -- intervened, revised, found
    alternatives to -- history? Which genre (the novel, poetry, drama) is best
    suited to the task? Is it better to write from within accepted canons or
    models, or to use popular forms? What are the advantages or disadvantages
    of using literature to these ends? Abstracts of at least 250 words to Karin
    Westman at Dept. of English, Kansas State U, 106 Denison Hall, Manhattan,
