ELIOT SOCIETY: CALL FOR PAPERS AND CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
The 22nd Annual Meeting of The T.S. Eliot Society will be held in
St. Louis, MO from 28 to 30 September, 2001. The distinguished poet
and critic, Geoffrey Hill will deliver this year's T.S. Eliot
Memorial Lecture.
The Society invites proposals for papers and presentations. Such
proposals, dealing with any aspect of Eliot Studies, should be about
500 words in length, and indicate clearly the central direction or
aim of the project/paper. These should be forwarded to the President,
Professor Shyamal Bagchee, Department of English, University of
Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada T6G 2E5; email:
shyamal.bagchee@ualberta.ca.
To be considered, proposals must be postmarked by June 15. The Society
has a small fund to help defray expenses of graduate students and new PhDs
whose papers have been accepted. All presenters will have to be a current
member of the Society by the conference time; please consult the

details.
