    "IMAGE, FILM, TEXT"
    MARCH 15-16, 2002

    KEYNOTE SPEAKER: MELISSA R. ZINKIN

    To be included in the program, you are invited to submit an abstract of
    your paper (not to exceed 250 words) to the coordinator no later than
    November 14, 2001.

    Suggested topics include: Adaptation of Novels Into Movies; Representation
    and Articulation; Simulacra; Film as the Medium of Suspense; Censoring
    Memory; Visual Norming; Film as Mechanical Reproduction; Imaged Memory;
    Embodied Texts; The Gendered Image; Film and History; Framing; Filmic Space
    and Time; Focalization of Memory; Film and Diaspora; Montage; Film as
    Diaspora; The Economics of the Image: Film as an Industry; Angling for
    Effect; Transpositions; Film as the Medium of Violence; Image as Metaphor.
    The Conference is designed to explore any issues related to image, film or
    adaptation of texts into movies. Papers may relate to the general
    conference topic in any interdisciplinary manner through literature,
    sociology, anthropology, political science, film, art, history, philosophy
    or religion. Suggestions for panels or sessions are welcome.
