Call For Papers: an interdisciplinary book on Spiritual Dimensions of
Teaching and Learning. Papers invited from all disciplines. We desire
theoretically well-informed articles with an eye toward practice. Topics
may include, but are not limited to: spirituality and the role of secular
institutions; ways spirituality informs teaching, affecting content,
practice, and student-teacher relationships; rhetorics of spirituality, such
as the spiritual tenor of mission and vision statements; tensions or
connections between spirituality and current pedagogical or theoretical
perspectives; historical perspectives on the relationship between
spirituality and education; consideration of how educators might make
explicit the spiritual values/perspectives covertly underpinning academic
disciplines; understanding how spiritual values inform supposedly
"objective" research in both the "hard" and "soft" sciences as well as the
humanities; spirituality as a topic for student writing.

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2002. Please send papers or
500-600 word proposals/abstracts to Dr. Corri Wells (wellsc@wpunj.edu),
Department of English, William Paterson University, 300 Pompton Rd., Wayne,
NJ 07470. Electronic submissions preferred (via email or email
attachment-in Word or WordPerfect); hard copy accepted.
