Call for Papers --
Poets Discuss and Read their Work
Chair:
MaryJo Mahoney
@ Elmira College
1 Park Place
Elmira, NY 14901
Individual aesthetics, the relationship of words to ideas to worlds, the
link between words and approximations of the imagination, formalism,
variations on poetic form and free verse, metaphors and symbols, politics
and poetic representations…
Poets with significant publications should submit a focused, contemplative
position on any of these issues r/t their own work. Other considerations
on personal aesthetics and the process of writing poetry will be considered
as well -- looking for a diversity of issues and ideas.
Please send a 1 paragraph bio including a brief list of publications, 3-5
pages of poetry, and a 0-1 page position statement on one's own aesthetic
to: Dr. MaryJo Mahoney, Elmira College, 1 Park Place, Elmira, NY 14901 or
mjmahoney@elmira.edu
Each panelists will read two poems, speak about individual aesthetics, and
respond to questions r/t craft, process and culture.
Deadline for submissions: 7/21/01
