Call for papers An Interdisciplinary Conference The Department of Cultural Studies University of central Lancashire Preston
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS include: Philippa Berry David Punter Scott Wilson
The conference will be organised in 3 blocks with a final plenary session. Contributions from the fields of Philosophy, Literary and cultural criticism and Film Studies are welcomed and the focus will be primarily on representations of spirituality. We hope to have some authors of postmodern fiction taking part and there will be an exhibition of art by artists including Susie Hamilton.
BLOCK 1 SPIRITUALITY AND SCIENCE/EPISTEMOLOGY Topics might include: knowledge, science, physics, machines, cyber robotics.
BLOCK 2 HISTORY AND SPIRITUALITY. Topics might include: teleology, redemption, apocalypse, the millennium, prophecy.
BLOCK 3 BEING/ONTOLOGY- MIND AND BODY Topics might include altered states, the sublime, incarnation, transcendence, immanence, the unrepresentable, addiction, epiphany, angels.
