(Re)presentations of Violence and Aggression: a Society for Critical
Exchange session at the Northeast Modern Language Association convention in
Toronto, April 12-13, 2002. Presentations concerning the theory, function,
causes, history, etc. of violence and/or aggression in literature and other
media; various frameworks welcome (linguistic, sexual, ethnic, political,
etc.). Papers might address theoretical and practical difficulties such as
the problem of locating the moment of violence or the question of how
aggression or violence is conveyed or produced by visual images or text;
possible applications include literature, film, news programming, "reality"
