CFP: Ecofeminist Critical Approaches to Nineteenth-Century American
    Literature (9/15/01; NEMLA, 4/12/02-4/13/02)

    CALL FOR PAPERS

NEMLA (Northeast Modern Language Association) Conference

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, April 12-13, 2002

This panel invites papers on ecofeminist critical approaches to
nineteenth-century American literature, a period which, with its
interest in nature and the land, and its cultural assumptions of binary
oppositions, could especially benefit from a non-hierarchical approach
to gender, and the human and non-human. Submissions on canonical and
non-canonical works by both male and female writers are welcome.

Please send inquiries, or one-page abstracts for 15 minute papers, or
    completed papers to:

    Rita Bode, Ph.D
    98 Lytton Blvd.
    Toronto, Ontario
    Canada M4R 1L4

    or via email to: rita.bode@utoronto.ca

Deadline for abstracts and papers: 15 September 2001
