CFP: Computer Technology's Educational, Psychological, and Ethical
    Implications (11/30/01; 3/21/02)

"Promise or Peril? Reflecting on Computer Technology:
             Educational, Psychological, and Ethical Implications"

Symposium 2002 - Mount Mary College
Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22, 2002

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lowell Monke, Wittenberg University (author of the
recently published book, Breaking Down Digital Walls: Learning to Teach
    in a Post-Modem World).

This conference invites interested faculty and graduate students to
submit proposals that consider the impact of technology. What are the
benefits of computer technology? What are its drawbacks? How does
computer technology enhance education and life in general? In what ways
might computer technology have impoverishing rather than enriching
    effects?

We invite papers that explore technology in terms of its “promises and
perils” and that consider technology's implications from educational,
psychological, and ethical perspectives or from the standpoint of its
audience. Does technology affect children differently than adults? What
kinds of "digital divides" still exist? How may these issues be
    addressed?

In selecting papers, we will work to achieve some balance so that both
the positive and negative implications of technology may be explored.
For more information on the conference please go to our website:
http://www.mtmary.edu/symposium.htm (the online registration form will
    be available soon).
