CFP: NEMLA Victorian Languages April 12-13 2002
Seeking papers which examine the social, political, literary and/or scientific
discourses on language in the nineteenth century. Potential topics might
include: linguistic colonization, language and crime, slang and patois,
vernacular literature, evolutionary theories of language development, automatic
writing and philology. Panelists may also discuss the representation of
specific linguistic dilemmas and debates within imaginative fiction or art.
Abstracts (500 words) should be submitted to the address below by September 15,
2001.
