We are calling for abstracts (250 words) that address the meaning or
application of this mode of exchange.
Inherent in conversation is possibility. It is an open-ended discourse, a
dialogical meeting occurring on landscapes that can be rough and at times
unreconciled. Conversations allow differences and different voices. They
are unpredictable and performative.
Conversations can be understood as the relations between theory and
practice, performance and audience, past and present. Consequently,
questions are raised, such as: Is there a dialogue between structure and
space? Can the conversation be an intervention, or a means of
reconciliation? Are there ethical or political implications for it as a
model?
We are approaching the conversation as a potential mode of interaction
between and within different disciplines and forums, and are asking if it
is a viable and productive means of conceptualising the work of the
academy, beyond the academy. Is there a future for this kind of
conversation (if indeed it is a conversation)?
Expressions of interest are invited from disciplines within such faculties
as the Humanities and Social Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts,
Geographical and Environmental Sciences, Law and Architecture.
