Final Call for Abstracts or Proposals
for papers/presentations for the
ACA Masculinities Area of the
National PCA/ACA Annual Conference
(Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association)
March 13-16, 2002 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, Canada
This is the final call for abstracts or proposals for papers/presentations
for the ACA Masculinities Area of the National PCA/ACA Conference to be
held March 13-16, 2002 at the Sheraton Center in Toronto,
Canada. Abstracts or proposals on any aspects of masculinity or
masculinity studies are welcomed. The final deadline for abstracts (250
words) or proposals (1-3 pages) is September 15, 2001. Also, please submit
a brief vita or a paragraph-length bio with your abstract or
proposal. Make sure that your personal information-title of paper, name,
department, school affiliation, mailing address (school and home), email
address, and FAX number-is included with your abstract or proposal. Also,
make sure that this information is accurate and appears exactly as you
want it printed in the conference program.
Because this conference deals with all elements of popular culture and
culture, I encourage you to incorporate a visual element (slides, overhead
transparencies, and/or video clips) into your paper/presentation. This is
not mandatory; however, papers/presentations that incorporate a visual
element will be given special consideration. A slide projector/screen, an
overhead projector, and a TV/VCR will be available upon request. Please
indicate your AV request at the end of your abstract/proposal. Also, I
encourage you to visit the National PCA/ACA Conference website for more
information:
http://www2.h-net.msu.edu/%7Epcaaca/annual02/pcaaca02.html
Conference participants are only permitted to submit one abstract/proposal
to one Area of the National PCA/ACA conference. You will receive email
notification of acceptance status by September 26, 2001. Then, a formal
letter of acceptance will be mailed to you by October 1, 2001.
You must be a member of the American Culture Association and pay
conference registration fees to participate in the conference. Please
refer to the conference website for ACA membership dues and conference
registration fees.
Graduate student submissions are encouraged.
If you wish to serve as a Chair for one of the other panels in the
