I would like to post the following panel--part of the April 2002 NEMLA
convention in Toronto.

"Now That Whitman's Gay and Cather's a Lesbian: Teaching the Old Canon
from a New Perspective."
Chair: Phyllis M. Betz

The panel intends to raise questions and suggest answers about teaching
major 19th and early 20th centruy authors,whose sexuality is no longer
challenged, in the contemporary classroom.
