Dear CFP list members,

While I don't usually post anything but announcements, this not being a
discussion list, I post Scott Stalcup's message below because it raises an
issue that is particularly germane to this list. Any conference
organizers who would like to post an update with an extended deadline,
please include the original subject header in your message but with
"UPDATE" instead of "CFP" at the beginning of it, and send it to
the cfp@english.upenn.edu address.

I hope all members of this international list and all their loved ones are
safe, not just today but everyday.

Best,
Erika Lin, CFP list editor

To all conference organizers/presenters, I hestitate to post this because:

1.) Several people might think "Well yes, that goes without saying that events on the East Coast will have an effect on conferences."

and

2.) Some might think it rather cold to think of something other than the nation's crisis at this moment (i.e. academia).

That is understood and I apologize ahead of time. However, with deadlines approaching and mail slowed to a crawl due to downed airlines (esp. for overseas conferences), one would hope organizers will take this into consideration for late submissions and extend deadlines in light of current events. No one's heart is really into anything else at the moment, but business as "usual" has to go on, right?

Watch out for your brothers and sisters.

Thanks, Scott R. Stalcup Department of English Indiana State University Terre Haute, IN 47809 (812) 237-3171
