Elaboration: paper proposals are solicited for a panel on The Rocky Horror
Picture Show to take place during the Internal Association for the Fantastic
in the Arts spring conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Rocky Horror
remains a popular culture phenomenon that both employs and parodies
conventions of horror, science fiction, and musical cinema. In addition,
with great joie de vivre, it self-consciously (and perhaps not entirely
convincingly) articulates a subversive stance toward conventional
expectations of gender and sexuality.
The organizer welcomes paper proposals considering Rocky Horror's connection
to "the perverse." Topics may include, but are not limited to, audience
participation, cannibalism, gender, and transgression of genre.
Inquiries and submissions should be directed to Jeffrey Weinstock at the
contact address indicated above.
