    This is to update a call for papers for the April 12-14, 2002 NEMLA
    Conference in Toronto.

    Now That Whitman's Gay and Cather's a Lesbian: Teaching the Old Canon
    from a New Perspective

    The panel intends to raise questions and suggest answers about teaching
    major 19th and early 20th century American writers whose sexuality is no
    longer challenged in the contemporary classroom.

    Deadline for abstracts has been extended to Oct. 5, 2001.
