    Call for Articles: The =93New=94 Italian Renaissance

    Object Magazine, a publication of the Arts Journalism Collective, seeks =
    submissions for its inaugural theme issue, =93The =91New=92 Italian =
    Renaissance.=94

    >From the mainstream success of Benigni=92s _Life is Beautiful_ to the =
    academic acclaim of Negri and Hardt=92s _Empire_, Italian popular and =
    intellectual culture is currently seeing renewed interest throughout the =
    world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the major retrospective of =
    the radical aesthetic movement Arte Povera co-organized by the Walker =
    Art Center (Minneapolis) and the Tate Modern (London) accomompanied by a =
    retrospective of Pier Paolo Pasolini. To help make sense of the currency =
    of Italian cultural and aesthetic production, Object is accepting brief =
    critical reviews and essays (up to 1500 words) addressing all facets of =
    this phenomenon from a variety of perspectives.

    criticism? Dismayed by the current state of arts journalism? Object is =
    a project of the Arts Journalism Collective, a group focused on creating =
    a forum for arts and entertainment criticism vital for thriving arts =

    audiences, and critics from a wide variety of disciplines in and out of =
    the =93academy=94 as well as providing a training ground for writers, =
    editors, photographers, and designers in the field of arts journalism. =
