The Graduate English Student Association (G.E.S.A.) of Howard University will host a
Roll Call Conference
January 25-26, 2002
In response to _Roll Call: A Generational Anthology of Social and
Political Black Literature_ (c. 2001), G.E.S.A. is soliciting papers from
all genres and disciplines. Topics may include:
Globalization, Creolization, Diasporic Condition;
Hip Hop Culture, neo-Black Arts Movement Aesthetic, Spoken Word Poetry;
Black theater, pop culture, performance;
The dumbing-down of Black youth; criminalization, police brutality;
Misogyny, Homophobia;
The Human Genome and modern Black identity;
The “isms”: Nationalism, sexism, multiculturalism, communism, capitalism, etc.;
Spirituality, Rites of Passage, Bridging gaps between generations;
Regentrification, Industrialization;
Homelessness, Displacement, Fractured Communities, etc.
Please submit abstracts (250 words maximum) by Friday, November 2, 2001.
