A STUDENT CONFERENCE ON:
"Identity and Change in Southeast Asia"

Sponsored by the Southeast Asia Club of Northern Illinois University in
cooperation with the Centers for Southeast Asian Studies at Northern
Illinois University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Ohio
University in Athens.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Rita Smith Kipp, Department of Anthropology,
Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio.
CALL FOR PAPERS: Graduate and undergraduate students with an interest
in Southeast Asia are encouraged to present papers. Papers should be in
English and presenters will be given no more than 20 minutes to present.
Cash prizes totaling up to $1,000 for the winners of the best
undergraduate and graduate papers. Deadline for paper abstracts: Send
a one page abstract and a vitae by January 1, 2002. In order to be
considered for the prize, papers must be submitted in their entirety by
February 2, 2002. Send your papers and abstracts to: Ryan Davenport,
SEA Student Conference Coordinator, Center for Southeast Asian Studies,

email: ryandavenport@hotmail.com. Prizes are funded by a Title VI
National Resource Center grant from the US Department of Education to
the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at NIU.
