    Technical Communication
Deadline for Submissions: November 1, 2001

The 7th Annual GES Conference will be held February 22-23, 2002 at Texas
Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The theme of this year's conference,
"Past and Future Perspectives: Negotiating our Changing Field," addresses
our changing field from the graduate scholar's perspective. The palindrome
of the year suggests examination of ways our past can help us deal with our
future regarding issues arising from new theories, cultural shifts, evolving
    technologies, and recent discoveries.

For the Technical Communication proposals we will be looking for a focus on
past and future perspectives. How has the past of Technical Communication
and other related areas informed the future of Technical Communication? What
new theories, shifts, technologies and discovers will impact how we teach,
study, and perceive Technical Communication? What can we do to negotiate
these changes and the changing field?

Topics to consider the past and future perspectives in Technical
Communication include, but are not limited to the following:

    -Technical Communication and the Internet
    -Perceptions of Technical Communication
    -Program and Curriculum Development
    -Technology and Technology Criticism
    -Ethics and Technical Communication
