Ethics and Politics: The Work of Alain Badiou
The Centre for Critical and Cultural Theory at Cardiff University is
organizing a conference devoted to the work of Alain Badiou. The
conference will take place in Cardiff on 25 and 26 May 2002.
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that Alain Badiou is a
major contemporary philosopher and theorist: his positions attract strong
support and create animated debate—they leave no one indifferent.
With the translation into English of three of his books (Ethics: An Essay
on the Understanding of Evil; Manifesto for Philosophy; Deleuze: The
Clamor of Being), and various critical contributions, the debate has
reached Anglo-Saxon countries.
The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for all those who are
interested in Badiou’s work.
Alain Badiou has agreed to come and give a keynote presentation of his
current research, and we invite further contributions from interested
parties. The deadline for submission of proposals is 5 January 2002.
