INVITATION and CALL FOR PAPERS:The First ASPS Seminar: Globalization and
Business Cultures in Skellefteċ, Sweden February 15-16th, 2002

ASPS - The American Studies Project at Skeria - in cooperation with Umeċ
University and Luleċ Technical University is pleased to announce plans for
the first American Studies Seminar to be held in Skelleftea, Sweden,
    February 15-16th, 2002.

The theme "Globalization and Business Cultures " seeks to promote the
analysis and discussion of globalizing trends in corporate cultures
including logic, practices, and symbolism as these are locally adapted for
organizing conduct and discourse within commercial, corporate, academic,
public and private domains. We welcome contributions which address the
influences, reproduction and transformations of American-derived corporate
cultures and their discourses (e.g. free-market, managerial, enterprise)
within the various agencies of commerce, consumption, advertising,
    academics, and the commercial media.

All presentations will be for plenary sessions. In addition to extending an
invitation to NAAS and EAAS members, the open seminar format hopes to
encourage participation also from scholars working outside American Studies.
We especially welcome contributions from scholars of business and economics.
Please send paper proposals (title and abstract) to the organizer: Gary
