Web site updated for Southwest Meeting of PCA/ACA, 13-17 February, 2002

Dear Past Participants and Potential Participants in our Regional
meeting of Popular Culture and American Culture Enthusiasts!

The web site for the Albuquerque meeting (13-17 February, 2002) has been
brought up to date and is ready to rumble; check it out. The 2002 meeting of
the Southwest-Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Associations will be
an exiting event and now we have all the details available in a readable
    format.

We will have another delightful meeting in Albuquerque and our luncheon
speaker, this year, is TONY HILLERMAN. We are really excited to have the
author of the "Navajo mysteries" in our presence. He will discuss how he fell
into the writing game, an interesting topic since he is an Anglo writer whose
mysteries use Native American themes and myths and have been accepted
with enthusiasm by the Native American community.

We are meeting concurrently with the Rocky Mountain (Regional) American
Studies Association, a distinguished group with whom we have many
connections--indeed, many of us belong to the ASA.

We are also meeting concurrently with The Historical Society, a group
based in Boston, but with regional members all over the country. THS is
trying to make history more accessible to ordinary Americans and is trying
to get away from jargon and debates of models, etc. There will be four
roundtable discussions and all THS members are invited to participate.

The UDLA group, led by Paul Rich, will attend and tell us about the successes
of Congress V and the plans for Congress VI in 2003. We are all ears for the
news, esp. those of us who attended the wonderful meeting this year in
Puebla/Cholula on the campus of the Universidad de Las Americas--a meeting
    which was a big success.

There are a number of Film, Television, and Radio Areas on our list,
so that anyone in a Radio-TV-Film or Critical Studies area could find
    a good place to share....

Finally, we welcome former participants to this meeting. Be there!

Check the web site for AREA CHAIR listings. Once on the Area Chair
list, you can use a CONTROL-F search for your topic in lieu of hunting
through the list. The list is at www.swtexaspca.org

If all else fails, send me a note and I will help out.

Best regards and do come back!

    Peter
