    March 15-16, 2002

    To be included in the program you are invited to submit an abstract of your
    paper (not to exceed 250 words) to the coordinator no later than November
    28, 2001.

    Suggested topics include:
    Adaptation of Novels into Movies Simulacra
    Censoring Memory Film as Mechanical Reproduction
    Embodied Texts Film and History
    Filmic Space and Time Film and Diaspora
    Film as Diaspora Angling for Effect
    Film as the Medium of Violence Representation and Articulation
    Film as the Medium of Suspense Visual Norming
    Imaged Memory The Gendered Image
    Framing Focalizations of Memory
    Montage The Economics of the Image: Film as an Image as Metaphor Industry
    Transpositions

    The conference is designed to explore any issues related to image, film, or
    adaptation of texts into movies. Papers may relate to the general
    conference topic in any interdisciplinary manner through literature,
    sociology, anthropology, political science, film, art, history, philosophy
    or religion. Suggestions for panels or sessions are welcome.
