    Violence et Creation (02/02/02; journal issue)

    NB: there is a conference call concording with this journal issue. You do
    not have to participate to the conference in order to have your article
    published.

    For its second issue, Defakto, an interdisciplinary journal of the French
    Graduate Student Association of NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, is calling upon your
    submissions. They may be in French or English, theoretical or fictional,
    ranging from literature and art history, to sociology and architecture,
    and pertaining to the following theme: Violence and Creation -- la
    destruction et son double. Topics such as but not limited to: how is
    creation motivated and conditioned by violence? How are established
    traditions broken by acts of violence? Cruelty and performance: what are
    the functions of brutality in the perfroming arts? Violence as esthetics
    of transgression; Creating in the context of violence; Figures of
    subversion, of transgression, of profanation; Perceiving violence:
    Censorship and criticism.

    Submissions may be in French or English and should not exceed 12 pages.
    Please include footnotes (no MLA style) and
    visual aids if applicable.
