CALL FOR PAPERS
America in/from Romania
The RAAS-Fulbright Conference, Bucharest, 31 January-2 February 2002
The 2002 RAAS Biannual Conference in association with the Fulbright
Commission in Romania invites colleagues in American Studies and all
related disciplines as well as graduate students to submit proposals for
individual papers, presentations, films, roundtables and workshops on
any topic dealing with North American culture and society as well as
with the study of America in general. The RAAS program encourages
interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and cross-temporal submissions
designed to bring the humanities and social sciences together. The
sessions will address a broad range of issues: literature and language,
pedagogy, cultural studies, the arts including visual arts,
architecture, music, film, material culture, popular culture, history,
society, media and communication, politics, economics, environments,
international relations, religion, law, theory and methodology.
Abstract proposals for individual papers must include the title, name of
presenter, institutional affiliation and mailing/email address, and an
abstract of 300 words. Selected papers of RAAS members will be published
in a volume edited by RAAS. Conference participation is not restricted
to association members. Deadline for the submission of proposals: 1
December 2001 (to be sent by mail or e-mail, to any of the following
