THE PROBLEM OF RACE
W.E.B. Du Bois Graduate Society, Harvard University
April 5-6th, 2002
abstracts due: January 15th, 2002
The W.E.B. Du Bois Graduate Society of Harvard University would like to
invite graduate students from all disciplines to submit proposals for our
annual conference on THE PROBLEM OF RACE this Spring. We encourage
submissions that will address race in innovative and provocative ways and
particularly those examining: religion, science and medicine, visual arts,
and changing conceptions of race.
We hope this conference will provide a unique opportunity for graduate
students to share their work on panels and in plenary sessions that will
contribute to the study of race in the 21st century. Panels will be
organized by topic with three to four participants, each having 15 to 20
minutes to present their research. Plenary sessions will center around
the work of a single student who will have approximately 40 minutes to
present his or her work and will receive comments from designated
respondents.
Please send us a one-page abstract with your paper title, graduate
program, contact information, and preference for a panel or plenary
session. We hope you will feel encouraged to participate and look forward
to receiving your proposals.
