We are pleased to announce the annual graduate English conference at Brigham
Young University, in beautiful Provo, Utah. The conference—-"Functions of the
Word"—-will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2002. This year we would like to
invite interested graduate students to send in abstracts via the internet in
order to enhance the experience of the conference for everyone. Although the
conference is sponsored by the English GSA, papers in other aspects of the
humanities will be entertained.
We anticipate holding sessions on the following topics:
-Questions of Language in the Renaissance and Reformation
-Women’s Voices
-The Romantic Word
-Teaching About Language
-The Bible and Literature
-Technology and the Word
-Words and the Process of Making: Creative Session
Abstracts on other topics related to the conference theme will also be
considered. Please submit abstracts (250 words) to gl35@email.byu.edu by January
