NEAR EAST REVIEW -- A Journal of International Poetry & Literature

Near East Review, published biannually in English, is a challenging new
forum for international poetry and literature, from the Middle East and
beyond, featuring work by contemporary award-winning poets as well as
articles, interviews, translations, essays and reviews. Leading writers
from around the world assess, reassess and debate voices old and new,
reputations lost and found, in a unique meeting of literatures from East
    and West.

In poetry Near East Review expressly aims to counterpoise contemporary
Middle Eastern poetries -- in translation -- with those of Europe, North
America, and the rest of the world, in a unique context of dialogue and
exchange. Critical commentary is a vital part of this conversation, and we
give emphasis to creative, challenging critical discussion, in essays
    characterised by style and accessibility.

    CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Near East Review is actively seeking submissions of reviews (approx.1000
words) and review articles (approx 2000-3000 words) of books in the
general area of Middle Eastern Studies. We give priority to reviews of
poetry and literature of the region -- in translation -- but
welcome reviews of books from broader humanities fields.

We also welcome the submission of proposals for literary essays about, and
interviews with, poets of the Middle Eastern region as well as submissions
of contemporary poetry in translation, from Arabic, Persian, Kurdish,
    Turkish, and Hebrew.
