    Reading Benjamin's Arcades

    A one-day conference supported by New Formations
    Saturday, 13 July 2002
    King Alfred's College, Winchester, UK

    The time seems right for an assessment of Walter Benjamin's major work, his
    study of Paris as 'capital of the nineteenth century'. Proposals are invited
    for thirty-minute papers on any aspect of The Arcades Project. The aim of
    the conference is to bring into focus the current high level of interest in
    Benjamin. Contributions from Germanists and non-Germanists are welcome.
    Confirmed keynote speakers are to be announced in due course. Please submit
    paper proposals of around 300 words by 1 February 2002 to one of the
    following conference organizers:
