The following may be of interest to theoreticians/practitioners working
in the broad-based field(s) of 'urban culture' and 'writing the city'.
For the forthcoming MEDIA ISSUE of the online 'Journal of
Psychogeography and Urban Research', we strongly encourage submissions
which comprise an attempt to re-think urban writing in both fiction and
non-fiction forms.
Additionally we strongly encourage submissions from media
practitioners/researchers working with urban subject matter in a form
deliverable across internet media such as QuickTime, Windows Media
player or similar for an online audience.
Primarily, the role of the journal is to establish new ground for
debate, to encourage new research and thinking on the urban, and to
question existing orthodoxies and methodologies pertaining to urban
research.
Proposals may therefore take the form of:
* Academic Articles/Papers
* Revised Conference Papers
* Working Papers
* Audio/Video in a variety of 'internet-ready' formats
* eBooks for Microsoft Reader
* Photography
In the case of Academic Articles/Papers, all textual contributions must
be written in English and should not have been published, or submitted
for publication elsewhere. All submissions should be accompanied by a
150-300 word abstract (including 6 keywords) for purposes of review.
Submissions undergo blind peer review. Therefore, the author(s) name,
address and email should appear only on a detachable cover page and not
anywhere else on the manuscript. If a submission is accepted, a disk
version of the manuscript will be required. Submissions must be fully
referenced and may contain endnotes (but not footnotes).
In the case of Video or Audio content being submitted for review, please
submit a 150-300 word abstract in the first instance. Large file
attachments containing video or audio content are being accepted at this
stage.
All submissions should be submitted to the following address:
editorial@psychogeography.f9.co.uk
Or by surface mail to:
PPUK
PO Box 1059
Southampton
SO16 5AG
United Kingdom
General enquiries should be sent to admin@psychogeography.co.uk

Prospective contributors who are based in the UK should note that in its
regular review of research performance in the United Kingdom, the Higher
Education Funding Council (HEFCE) has stated that digital publications
may be submitted for RAE assessment and should be subject to the same
quality criteria as papers published by 'traditional' means.
All contributions to The Journal of Psychogeography and Urban Research
will be reviewed by two referees with academic expertise in the
appropriate area. Contributors will be kept up to date on the status of
their contributions via regular email correspondence.
